This package contains:
- 200 g cake mix, 200 g quark filling, 20 g cocoa, 20 g topping
|
To be added:
- Dough: 100 g butter or margarine, 2 eggs, 5 dessert spoons of milk or water (for the darker dough), 1 jar of cherries (morello cherries - 350 g without juice)
- Filling: 500 g low fat quark, 600 ml whipping cream (3 tubs)
- Gateau topping: approx. 350 ml cherry juice
- Sufficient for one spring baking tin (ø 26 cm)

Preparation:
- Place the cake mix, fat and eggs in a mixing bowl and beat with the hand mixer or electric mixer for about 3 minutes at top speed until the mixture is creamy.
- Grease a spring baking tin, pour around 1/3 of the cake mixture into it and smooth the top. Add cocoa to the remaining mixture plus 5 dessert spoon of the liquid and carefully pour on top of the lighter mixture. Ensure the cherries are not wet, spread them onto the cake mix, leaving 16 cherries for decoration. Bake the cake on the middle shelf of the oven allow to cool in the cake tin.
- Stir the quark filling into the low fat quark and the whipping cream until it has attains a creamy consistency. Spread onto the cooled cake, leaving 2 heaped dessert spoons full for decoration (approx. 120 g).
- Mix the gateau topping with the cherry juice and heat whilst stirring continuously. Bring to the boil – then spread onto the quark filling.
- Once the cake has cooled completely, decorate it with the rest of the quark filling and the 16 cherries.
