On the A4, only a few kilometres to the east of Bautzen, lies Weissenberg, the home of Geha Mills, a traditional family-run business established in 1818.
The brand name Geha originated in the 1960ies, when the enterprise took up production of cake and bread mixes for retail sales. The “Ge” stands for Gerhart and the “Ha” for Hatter, the collective name of the senior director of the company. The logo (a cooking spoon) is a perfect symbol of the main target areas for the products: the bake house and the kitchen.
Today, besides the traditional flour production aimed at bakers and bakery enterprises, the company produces baking mixes aimed at simplifying the process of making popular Saxon delicacies according to traditional and modern recipes. Geha also develops and manufactures bespoke mixes and special orders.
A major strength of the business remains its flexibility, its capability for innovation and its high quality aspirations. These all focus on the unique flour production, starting from the raw materials used, the milling process adjusted and coordinated to the requirements of the individual baking and cooking mixes. A constant high quality is achieved without the use of any additives – balanced nutrition due purely to the deployment of natural materials, natural flavourings and phosphate-free baking powder. Expertise and experience, gained through close cooperation with the Bakers’ Guilds, complete the all-encompassing advantages from which our retail customers profit.
Doris Buro and Roland Hatter spearhead the family business, 6th generation management of the company which was re-privatised during 1990 -1993.
